Yes, Deism has it's roots in the Protestant Reformation and many of the early deists were very closely aligned to Christianity. Over time Deism has evolved and now includes the influences of a whole variety of religious traditions and philosophies. Of course Lewis (the person behind that website) would probably disagree with me on that last point but that's just his opinion.

I was under the impression that the genesis was attributable Erigenus, Giordano Bruno, and subsequently The Renessiance confused Rejection of papal suzerainty + emphasis(comparatively, at least)on a personal reading of Scripture aside, isn't Protestantism-even in it's nascent incarnations- equally antithetical?

Yes, Protestantism was part and parcel of the larger and broader Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment. It was more directly connected with the English Reformation however. Had Henry the 8th not split from the church and his subsequent rulers not followed with further reforms it's likely that Deism simply wouldn't have been tolerated in it's birthplace England.

Sure there were other deistic movements that came long before English Deism but they weren't called Deism at the time. The "Deism" label was popularized and acquired it's definition among intellectuals in late 17th century England.

Yes circular logic is a step below linear logic which is in turn a step below systemic logic.

One can make a very logical arguement that Planet Earth(if you happen to be to Tom Friedman, droves of wannabe public intellectuals and back of the house pundits will devour this enough to make you a millionaire author Hello )is flat. Jerkwad that I am, it's just fun to aggravate the dogmatic w/their own preconceptions....
