I found it amusing that Larry (Copling) titled his forum "The OFFICIAL PanenDeism Forum!". Apparently this is the unofficial Panendeism forum. Smile

Anyway you can check out Larry's forum here.

From The Official Panendism forum :
Quote :
Experiential Metaphysics (EM) is what distinguishes PanenDeism from those who have attempted to copy or distort the original idea.

Aaron, are you one of those attempting to copy or distort the original idea of Panendeism??? Smile

LOL... I'm sooo derivative. Very Happy

I like Larry's god model but on this one I think he's full of crap.

"Experiential Metaphysics" - that's kind of an oxymoron.

FYI, this is Travis' take on it.

Travis Clementsmith wrote:
In my understanding, Panendeism is not a system to be branded by one group or the other as "official". It would be like if one opened the Bible and the first page read, "The Official Home of Theism". Its a general classification attempting to describe a general approach to spirituality. In fact, in one essay, I think I labeled Larry's conception as "Reflexive Panendeism" since his model was so closely aligned with Arthur Young's model. Therefore, EM would be an approach within Reflexive Panendeism. Now, since I have no idea what EM involves, I really cannot comment on it in specific, but personally, I am for people wanting to try different approaches. The best advice I could give is, "Do you feel comfortable with it?" If one does, then any actual contemplative practice has one great benefit to judge its effectiveness: did it work?

Personally, I would want to take advice from teachers whom I believe have the requisite skill to pass time tested techniques. Does Larry possess that skill? Maybe. I just don't know. I like to think in Integral Panendeism, we keep the field open enough that one feels comfortable exploring whatever fancies them in their contemplative pursuits, no officalness needed. The drawback to that approach, is that one is kind of prodding in the dark without some type of structure to initially guide them.

In the end, I don't believe anyone can claim an "official" ownership of a classification, just as no one can claim the official version of genetic studies. There is the pursuit, the collection of data, and the verification among the peers. I don't think it matters whether one is exploring an empirical science or a contemplative science.
