PostSubject: Golf as an ILP   Thu Sep 20, 2007 10:52 am

For the last couple of months I've been going to a local driving range on my lunch break. I like it because it helps me to work off some of my calorie intake from lunch, it allows me to get outside and "commune" with nature, and it helps to focus my mind. The bonus is my golf swing is beginning to improve.

My question is, are there any hobbies that you enjoy that you feel have the potential to work as a spiritual cross trainer?

Ah I did exactly what you did, in my last job I had the opportunity to get away to a beautiful driving range for lunch. It was almost spiritual. Certainly, golf, for some reason lends itself to this spiritual side, to wit the Legend of Bagger Vance, etc.

And I've had some absolutely wonderful "nature" moments out there on a beautiful golf course.

It's a credit to me, I think, that I can get all this spiritual stuff out of it, even while game sucks big time. Man I tried so hard to master the game and failed.

Poker can be spiritual. Actuallys somewhere I have a book called zen and poker. Some good advice really. Now poker's a game I excell at, notwithstanding that I've only ever played low stakes, neighboiurhood poker.

Chess remains the best board game every invented.
