I spotted this little chart and thought it was a pretty cool depiction of Charles Darwin's evolution in views from traditional Theist to "modern" Deist.

That's very interesting. I was just reading this book about Darwin and how he, being a devout Christian, went to his deathbed convinced he had committed blasphemy.

I wonder if the author cites book, chapter, and verse for this Darwinian Deism evolution. Did Darwin actually express a Deistic worldview in writing? I think that he and his defenders denied that he was an Atheist, but Huxley himself claimed to be an Agnostic, not a Deist.

I assume that by "Physical" he means in-organic matter, and by "Organic" he refers to living organisms. But the wording makes it sound like we exist in two separate "worlds", like the old body-and-soul worldview. Did Darwin ever express his opinion on the duality of flesh and spirit?
