| | Quote: | Chapter Five Heaven and Earth are impartial; They see the ten thousand things as straw dogs. The wise are impartial; They see the people as straw dogs. The space between heaven and Earth is like a bellows. The shape changes but not the form; The more it moves, the more it yields. More words count less. Hold fast to the center. |
Do you think the divine is impartial? Are we like straw dogs in it's eyes? _________________ "Enjoy every sandwich" ~ Warren Zevon |

| And another translation...
| Quote: | 5 The Tao doesn't take sides; it gives birth to both good and evil. The Master doesn't take sides; she welcomes both saints and sinners.
The Tao is like a bellows: it is empty yet infinitely capable. The more you use it, the more it produces; the more you talk of it, the less you understand.
Hold on to the center. |
The first two lines of this translation sort of go along with what P.A. was saying in the "evil" topic. _________________ "Enjoy every sandwich" ~ Warren Zevon |

Yes, which is why so many people prefer to believe in a paternal God. Everyone wants to be their parent's "favorite". The world can be a scary place if you believe you are alone! But I don't consider myself to be alone - I am one with all, including the creator, whether or not It is aware of me. |

Straw dogs are used in traditional chinese ceremonies and refers to something that becomes worthless and is thrown away after it's initial use. _________________ "Enjoy every sandwich" ~ Warren Zevon |
